The Kim Holmes Trophy returns! Each year the Perth Disc Golf & Mundaring Disc Golf Clubs battle it out in the inter-club competition. Points accumulated over 3 rounds in different formats will decide the eventual winner. Primarily a social event, the KHT is a chance for PDGC and Mundaring Disc Golf Club to go head-to-head and claim bragging rights for the next year!

Players must be a member of at least one of the clubs to register.

Teams

Players must be financial members of either Perth or Mundaring Disc Golf Clubs to be able to participate. If players are financial members of both Clubs they may choose to compete for either Club.

Any number of players per team can play in the first round, but only a maximum of 16 will progress to the final two rounds. There must be a minimum of one female player in the final 16 for each Club. If no female player is included in the final 16, that Team will have a penalty of five points deducted from their total final score.

Due to unavailability or injury, players may be substituted in later rounds only by consent of the two team captains and this may result in an adjustment to the seedings of players.

Format

The competition will consist of 3 rounds:

Round 1: 9am to 10.30am – Total Team Score

Players will play the course in individual stroke play and their scores will be recorded. The best 16 scores from each team will be tallied and the team with the lowest total score wins 12 points. In the event of a tie, both teams score 6 points. If fewer than 16 people are on a team, the best scores from an equal number of players on the opposing team will count.

At the completion of Round 1, the top 16 players based on Round 1 score will be ranked in order and seeded accordingly. These players will continue to play the final two match play rounds.

Any players not making the final 16 will play rounds 2 and 3 in individual stroke play, and the best two scores in each round will gain 3 points and 1 point respectively for their team. In the event of a drawn best score between two opposing team members, they will receive two points each for their team.

Round 2: 10.45am – 12pm – Best Shot Doubles Match Play

Players will pair up according to seeding and play a round of match play best-shot doubles against their similarly seeded opponents from the other team. Match play is decided by the number of holes won against the opposing team. You win a hole by scoring less than your opponent on that hole. If scores for the hole are tied, the hole is ‘halved’ and there is no winner for that hole.

Doubles pairings will be as follows:

  • Seed 1 and Seed 4
  • Seed 2 and Seed 3
  • Seed 5 and Seed 8
  • Seed 6 and Seed 7
  • Seed 9 and Seed12
  • Seed 10 and Seed 11
  • Seed 13 and Seed 16
  • Seed 14 and Seed 15

The winners of the match are the team with the most number of holes won for the round. Winners of each doubles match receive 3 points: a tie will result in each pair getting 1½ points. Maximum score for this round is 24 points.

Round 3: 12.30pm – 1.45pm – Individual Match Play

Players will be matched against their similarly seeded opponents individually and will play match play format. The winner is the player who has won the most holes across the round. The winner of each match receives 3 points: a tie will result in each player getting 1½ points. Maximum score for this round is 48 points.

Final Score

In the case of a tie, the top-seeded players from both teams will play a sudden-death playoff starting from hole 1 until a hole is won.

Player numbers

If either team has less than 16 players, doubles matches may be altered to accommodate the numbers and points scored will be altered accordingly.

Presentations: 2pm

Presentations will be held at Portside Boulders in O’Connor, A sausage sizzle and beers on tap will be available to purchase.

NOTE: It is Portside Boulders’ 5th Birthday celebration so they will have some festivities, including a DJ and putting competition!
