Howdy Pardners, well its that time of year again… After the roaring success of the last few Rookie Rodeos, the PDGC have decided to revisit the OK Corral for some more dang-tootin’ fun! For those of you that don’t know what this tournament is all about, its a doubles tournament with a twist: The Sheriff (that’s you, experienced disc golfer!) needs to recruit a Deputy (a player that has played three or less competitive disc golf events, ie. club league days or other tournaments. Non-competitive leagues like Bindaring or the GOATS are NOT counted) to join forces for the day.
The Sheriff: Experienced disc golfer
The Deputy: player with 3 or less competitive disc golf events (ie. Club league day or tournament)
The event is being held at Chichester Park in Woodvale on Saturday the 13th of January, so plenty of time to wrangle a Deputy and get them out on the course to break them in and show them why we love our sport so much, and why they will too. There are several divisions including Mens, Womens, Mixed, Juniors and Seniors (Juniors and Seniors divisions only need minimum one team member to either be 15 and under (juniors) or 60 and over (Seniors) to qualify for that division), and the format is best drive, then alternate throws until your team holes out, but the same players drive can only be taken a maximum of two consecutive holes.
This is a social tournament, so expect plenty of good natured banter, perhaps some tips being given on course by the Sheriffs and hopefully you all have a lot of fun, followed by the presentations at the Woodvale Tavern along with some delicious food included. All other event details are at the following link, if you have any questions please DM me as your friendly TD. Happy wrangling Sheriffs, and if there are any new players (Deputies) that are keen to play but need a Sheriff pardner, please contact me as your TD and we will endeavour to find you an experienced disc golfer to team up with (This is the perfect tournament to meet us all and dip your toes into the sport, so please don’t hesitate to hit me up)…. or if you’re a Sheriff willing to help us out by adopting a Deputy looking for a team, that would be great too.
Woodvale Tavern
Limited food catering will be provided at the Woodvale Tavern, please let the TD know if you have any allergies/dietary requirements
Thanks! Del Batey, TD
